Smart What?

"The world's terrorists and rogue nations have clearly become more dangerous since President Obama took office, and analysts say they're testing him to see how much they can get away with. ... In an ever-more-dangerous world, the Obama adminstration says it is practising 'smart power' instead of 'hard power.' ... That's the message Mr. Obama has sent since his swearing-in, but so far, it doesn't seen to be working. On the contrary, it seems to be encouraging bad behavior. ... What the administration does not seem to grasp is that the battle against the Taliban in Pakistan and nuclear threats posed by Iran are not going to be solved through soft power or good-faith engagement. 'The Taliban--or for that matter, the Iranian leadership--are motivated not by earthly desires but by a religious ideology, one that brands any government unwilling to bow to their demands as illegitimate and Satanic', [Michael] Rubin wrote", Donald Lambro, 11 May 2009 at http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/may/11/smart-power-stumped/print/

I don't believe even Obama is this stupid. He apparently has something in mind. I think.

IA - I don't get President BO either. A simple basic guess could be geographic location.

We are east and west of Iran in Afghanistan and Iraq. (War or containment strategy?)

And what lies between Afghanistan and sea access is Pakistan. (Pipeline strategy?)
